Independent Counselling Assessment

Coming to terms with separation, divorce or trying to resolve financial or children matters as a result is one of the most difficult and stressful experiences that anyone can go through.

We believe that counselling can help make the process easier to cope with. We teamed up with Emma Chamberlain (MSc, MBACP) a respected and highly-qualified Counsellor a while ago and she is now based at our offices in Stony Stratford. Counselling offers a positive way forward, providing you with a safe and confidential space in which to explore the complex range of thoughts and feelings that you may encounter.

Many clients feel they have competing demands on their time and emotions – they may be putting on a brave face at home for their children, working hard to maintain professionalism at work and often hiding their true feelings from extended family and friends.

The practical process of divorce can be lengthy, and importantly, emotionally there is no set timescale for processing the feelings of (for example) fear, grief, anger, anxiety, stress and panic that can be a large part of separation or divorce. It is a myth that the emotional pain will go away more quickly if it is ignored. Trying to contain your feelings is emotionally and physically exhausting.

Counselling can provide you with a space to talk freely and to find your own solutions, helping to influence positive change for you. Talking to a skilled professional – someone who isn’t a friend or family member – can make all the difference.

Counselling is an empowering process that can be truly transformational and life changing. Making sure you have the time and space to explore your own thoughts and feelings after a relationship breakdown can also help you to think more objectively and clearly, which can also assist in negotiating agreements. We encourage all of our clients to at least consider counselling. The feedback we have received from clients to date has been overwhelmingly positive.
